Can’t you just scroll way down on the site? Google generally kicks out any website that presents a different document to the user than to the GoogleBot (which is why if you Google NYT articles and click on the link you do not have to log in). The exception seems to be for scholar articles, but if they prevent you from seeing the PDF you can oftentimes change your User-Agent to the googlebot’s and get access. It’s like a cheat code for the web (if only there was IDDQD…)
